Shopping Genie, Trustworthy Or Not?

You may have seen My Shopping Genie receiving a lot of exposure recently, it is pretty new on the scene but has also been opened up to various negative reports.

The My Shopping Genie is run by a company called MyNet Universe who have been around since 2007, the Genie system actually integrates with EBay and Clickbank, two of the biggest retailers online. It will pop up on your browser showing the best deals when you search for a product.

Prime Time, a TV investigation programme recently looked into the Genie and sent an undercover agent to the launch meeting in Ireland. They say it’s not a legitimate business, they heavily point out that it is a pyramid scheme promising false hopes of wealth and prosperity.

The product is a license or right to sell the Genie to others who enter the business, for which you will be paid. You also have the right to give away the software download to consumers for free; it will cost you $199 to sign up. You also have to pay around $30 a month for the back office fees. Its always a little worrying when one of the co-founders of a business has been convicted of fraud before. This unfortunately is the case with Bruce Bise (you can Google him if you want to learn more).

For every two new people you sign up into this business you will earn one hundred dollars. To be honest its probably this part if the business which started the negative press about the Genie, the fact that you are being compensated for bringing others into the business.

Of course you are then also eligible for the other income earning streams of pay-per-click (PPC), pay-per-sale (PPS), and pay-per-offer (PPO) as the users of the Genie Web Apps you gave them shop and price compare at hundreds of thousands of online stores for millions of products and special offers.

There is no doubt that in this MLM marketing industry there is always going to be some negatives about pretty much every company in existance. There are many reasons for people to complain and spread scam stories around. Some may be for genuine reasons, others maybe out of bitterness. When assessing any opportunity its best just to concentrate in the facts and find out if there is any legitimate reason for negativity.

The BBB (Better Business Bureau) is a good place to find out if there have been any complaints about a particular company. Doing a search on MyNet Universe, the company behind the Genie shows that they have a B+ rating which is very respectable. In the last thirty six months their records show no complaints whatsoever. The only negative event registered is a warning for some of their advertising material, which contained the word ‘free’.

To be honest you will need to make your own mind up about the legitimacy of My Shopping Genie scam reports. If someone generally doesn’t like the MLM business model then the Genie is not for them..

So your decision about this business will rest on your own personal love or hate of network marketing. The only thing I will say is that it would be in my ‘weaker’ opportunity list because of the lack of tangible products. You also need to remember that a large amount of the bad press that MLM has received over the years is mostly due to unscrupulous marketers making unethical and hyped up claims of easy wealth.

I like the Genie’s pay plan, it is a legitimate network marketing business I feel with some great potential for building a residual online income.

There is no doubt some people are raking it in right now with the Genie, the top earners will be those who understand how to generate large amounts of leads for their business.
