When you concern yourself only with what’s happening Now, you free your mind from the ego and the constant projecting of what may happen in the future and what has happened in the past. Most of the egoic mind-based thoughts are rooted in what may or may not happen in the so-called “future” as well as what has already occurred in the so-called “past.”
When the pain-body becomes active it begins devouring your consciousness. It has succeeded in convincing you that you are the pain-body! Your entire mental process and sense of self is completely aligned with it. And it knows it. The pain-body is now in charge. It has taken over you, your speech, your sight, your perception, and most importantly, your emotions and all the pain that comes with them. And this is when you have, in a sense, become the pain-body. The true you is no longer. And at that very moment (at the time of consumption) the last thing in the world you want is to be at peace. You want war! So what do you do? You go looking for an enemy.
In the workplace, pain-body predators will seek out pain-body prey amongst co-workers or subordinates. Sometimes it happens when the predator is a boss or superior who feels that they have earned a “free pass” to mentally pound on subordinates. Whatever the case, the abuser will act as a pain transmitter who gleans temporary relief from their own pain by transferring it on to a receiver, i.e. victim or prey.
